In 2006, 34 per cent of Prince Albert's population was Aboriginal, while Aboriginals comprise approximately nine per cent of Saskatoon and Regina's populations.

The primary responsibility of the Lands unit of the Lands and Consultation Branch is to manage and coordinate Saskatchewan's obligations under the Treaty Land Entitlement process. The unit also performs a similar function with respect to Specific Claims.

		Treaty Land Entitlement Treaty Land Entitlement is a process where the federal and provincial governments are fulfilling Treaty commitments of land made to First Nations.

		Specific Claims Specific claims arise out of a situation where a First Nation has had reserve land wrongfully or unfairly taken away by the federal government.
