Did You Know? Treaty 6 was signed with the Plain and Wood Cree Indians and other tribes at Fort Carleton, Fort Pitt and Battle River in August 1876. Gaming Trusts and Grants Clarence Campeau Development FundThe Clarence Campeau Development Fund (CCDF) was established on June 11, 1997 by an agreement between the Government of Saskatchewan and the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan. In September of 2001 an amendment to the Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation Act recognized the CCDF in legislation. The mission of the CCDF is to improve the economic circumstances of Saskatchewan's Métis by providing funding for business development, community economic development, development of management skills, and assistance to new and existing Métis owned businesses. The purpose of the CCDF is to provide financial assistance where no other dedicated funding exists to support Métis people. The Fund complements other economic development funding initiatives including programming through the Saskatchewan Native Economic Development Corporation (SNEDCO) and other financial institutions. Responsibility for management of the Fund rests with the Board of Directors. The Province has two ex-officio (non-voting) members appointed to the Board. The Goals and the Objectives of the CCDF are:
To achieve its goals, the CCDF offers programs that provide equity for Métis businesses, support to community economic development initiatives, and assistance for the development of the management skills of Métis business owners and entrepreneurs.
